About

God bless my mother. I was born with broad shoulders and a mentality meant for one thing: swimming. I was never afraid of the water. Unlike most young kids I loved the deep end. At ages 3 and 4 I had a horrible habit of hopping in with out my floaties just to sink to the bottom and nearly drown; Again, God bless my mother. At age 10 my dad suggested I give competitive swimming a try and that was it; this fish was hooked. I was mocked all though my middle school and high school career for having “man shoulders”. After 9 years of hard training and struggling through my insecurities, my man shoulders and I have earned a spot on the division one, Saint Bonaventure woman’s swim team. I could not be more proud.  I am Michaela Ryan, a 19 year-old, sophomore, distance swimmer. My events include the 1650, the 1000 and the 500. This is my blog all about the joys, hilarities, and disappointments I face as I try to juggle being, a member of a crazy team, a distance swimmer, a college athlete and a regular student. I hope that you enjoy this my fellow fish! Remember, as Dory from Finding Nemo once said, “Just keep swimming.”
